5 Healthy Homemade Salad Dressings

Salad Dressings are one of those things in your pantry or refrigerator that may seem healthy at first, but once you read the list of ingredients, you soon realize they are filled with sugar, refined oils and preservatives.

Although you start out with a full plate of fresh vegetables, once it’s covered with your over-processed salad dressing it kind of defeats the whole purpose, you know what I’m saying?!

Fear not! It is actually super easy to create your favorite salad dressings at home that you can store in airtight containers, like mason jars, and keep the in the fridge for use throughout the week!

Here are some of my favorites.  They are ALL free of:

Gluten

Dairy

Corn

Soy &

Refined Sugar

PHEW…

Basic Lemon Vinaigrette Dressing

Makes 1/2 cup

¼ cup olive olive oil

juice of 1 small or 2 large lemons (about 2 Tablespoons)

2 Tablespoons apple cider vinegar

pinch sea salt

Directions:

place all of your ingredients in a mason jar, cover with a fitted lid and shake well.

Balsamic Vinagrette 1

Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing

Makes 1/2 cup

Ingredients:

¼ cup olive oil

juice of 1 lemon

2 Tablespoons Balsamic vinegar

pinch sea salt

pinch black pepper

Directions:

place all of your ingredients in a mason jar, cover wi

th a fitted lid and shake well.

Zucchini Noodle Salad 2

Traditional Italian Salad Dressing

Makes about 1 cup

Ingredients:

3/4 cup olive oil

 

¼ cup apple cider vinegar OR brown rice vinegar

2 Tablespoons water

1 teaspoon yellow or dijon mustard

1 teaspoons garlic salt, onion powder, dried oregano and dried parsley

¼ teaspoon dried basil

1/8 teaspoon sea salt

pinch dried thyme and dried celery salt and black pepper

1 Tablespoon honey OR 2 – 3 drops liquid stevia

Directions:

Place all of your ingredients into a class jar with a fitted lid and shake, shake shake 🙂

hemp seed ranch dressing

Hemp Seed “Ranch” Dressing

Makes about 1 cup

Ingredients:

¾ cup olive oil

¼ cup lemon juice

½ cup filtered water

1 cup hemp seeds

3 garlic cloves

1 jalapeno pepper, chopped

1/4 teaspoon sea salt

pinch  black pepper

2 Tablespoons fresh dill, cilantro and green onion, minced

Directions:

Place all ingredients (except for the fresh herbs) in a blender and blend.  Start at a low speed and gradually increase, scraping down the sides as necessary.  Blend until smooth and creamy.

Add the fresh herbs and quickly blend again.  Over-blending once the herbs have been added, will leave you with a green dip.  Store in a glass jar with a fitted lid.

Caesar Salad Dressing

“Caesar” Salad Dressing

Makes about 1 cup

Ingredients:

1/3 cup olive oil

2/3 cup filtered water

3 Tablespoons creamy, unsalted almond butter

1 Tablespoon brown rice vinegar OR apple cider vinegar

3 garlic cloves

juice of 2 small or 1 Large lemon (about 2 Tablespoons)

1/8 – 1/4 teaspoon sea salt

Directions:

Place everything into a blender and starting on low speed start blending slowly working up to high.  Blend until creamy.  You may have to stop a couple time to wipe down the sides.   store in an airtight container such as a mason jar.
